'Time' Is Magazine of the Year

'New York,' 'The New Yorker' win multiple awards

The National Magazine Awards were handed out May 3, and Time, New York and The New Yorker led the pack. Time was the surprise winner of Magazine of the Year, beating out favorites like New York, The New Yorker and Esquire

Despite the recognition of first-time nominees Vice and The Fader, the list of winners was heavy on magazine establishment (and male-skewing) names. New York won three, including Single-Topic Issue for "The Encyclopedia of 9/11." The New Yorker won for Reporting for "The Apostate," its widely acclaimed epic on the Church of Scientology; and Public Interest.
