There’s been a lot of buzz lately around Rebekah Brooks’ role at News International after it was discovered that she was still listed as a director of the company, and the Guardian’s Roy Greenslade suggested that she might even still be on the company’s payroll.
Yesterday, Greenslade said, he received a notification from a News International spokeswoman saying that Brooks was in the process of resigning from “several” directorships—including from the company’s main board.
“Several,” it turns out, meant at least 18. According to the U.K. Companies House records online, said Greenslade, Brooks’ resignation from the News International directorship was completed Monday. But it also shows that she resigned from a whole other slew of News Corp.-owned companies that she apparently held directorships at, ranging from Times Newspapers Ltd. to Newscorp Investments.
The records showed that Brooks resigned from 18 directorships but also that she remains a director at four other News International companies and the Press Association. Still, none of this proves that Brooks isn't on the company’s payroll, said Greenslade.
