Publishing Vet Dan Lagani Named CRO of Glam Media

Company reportedly planning IPO

Online lifestyle network Glam Media has tapped publishing veteran Dan Lagani as its first CRO and president, the company announced today. Lagani most recently served as president of North America at Reader’s Digest Association.

At Glam, Lagani will be responsible for “all revenue, brand category development, media agency relations, strategic sales, brand strategy and client services, advertiser solutions and sales operations,” according to the company. All sales team and region operations will report to Lagani, while he will report to Glam chairman and CEO Samir Arora.

Lagani was hired as president of Reader’s Digest Media, then under the leadership of Mary Berner, in 2010. The following year, shortly after Berner was replaced, Lagani was promoted to oversee RDA’s North American operations. But in the summer of 2012, with new CEO Robert Guth (the replacement for Berner’s replacement) aggressively cutting costs, Lagani left the company.

Prior to RDA, Lagani held positions as president of Condé Nast’s Fairchild Fashion Group, group publisher of Condé’s Bridal Group (which, at the time, included Modern Bride and Elegant Bride in addition to Brides), publisher of Meredith’s Better Homes & Gardens and Ladies' Home Journal

Glam, which is rumored to be planning an IPO in the first half of 2014, launched in 2004. In addition to its flagship women’s lifestyle site, its network now includes men’s site Brash, health-focused Bliss, food-based social network Foodie, and parenting site Tend. In September, the network reached 242 million global monthly unique users, per comScore.
