Embattled CIA director was scheduled to speak at Hero Summit
The David Petraeus firestorm is having fallout in the publishing world.
Petraeus was one of the high-profile speakers originally scheduled to appear at the Newsweek Daily Beast's inaugural Hero Summit, a new confab honoring America’s military, on Wednesday night. But while the publicity firestorm surrounding a political sex scandal can be a boon for media outlets, Petraeus' resignation as CIA director has proven more complicated for the NewsBeast, which was informed by the CIA's Office of Public Affairs last week that Petraeus would “no longer be able to participate” in the event.
