Meredith Promotes Harty to President of Publishing Unit
Tom Harty, who oversaw growth at Meredith Corp.’s mass-market women’s magazines amid the worst ad downturn in memory, has been promoted to president of its publishing unit in a surprising executive shuffle.
Harty replaces Jack Griffin, who is leaving the company unexpectedly after five years in the position.
Meredith hired Griffin twice, first in 1994 to run integrated marketing; and then in 2004 as president of the publishing group. (He left in 1999 to work for Parade, where he stayed until 2003.)
