Hacking Scandal Brings Down London Police Chief

Sir Paul Stephenson resigns post

The repercussions of News Corp.'s phone hacking scandal don't seem likely to end any time soon, and now they're spreading out in to the British government. 

SIr Paul Stephenson, the head of London's Metropolitan Police, resigned late Sunday. He's the third high-ranking person tainted by the scandal to resign in as many days. (Two News Corp. executives, Rebekah Brooks and Les Hinton, preceded him on Friday.)

In a statement, Stephenson said, "I have taken this decision as a consequence of the ongoing speculation and accusations relating to the Met's links with [News Corp.
