Is Newsweek getting some snark? Gabriel Snyder, who was fired earlier this year as editor of Gawker, was named digital executive editor for Newsweek, one of the very mainstream media companies for which Gawker was a regular source of pain.
In an announcement, Newsweek editor Jon Meacham and editorial director Mark Miller said Snyder “helped transform Gawker from a guilty pleasure for a Manhattan-centric audience to a vibrant source of real news and information, doubling Gawker’s audience.”
The move comes days after Newsweek integrated its print and online staffs under Miller and as it prepares to relaunch its site.
Snyder previously was a media reporter at The New York Observer. He starts at Newsweek Digital May 3, reporting to Miller.
