Ex-Newsweek Exec Osberg to Head Buzzwire

Newsweek veteran and CNET executive Greg Osberg was named CEO of Buzzwire, a company that streams video content to mobile devices. He succeeds Andrew MacFarlane, who was a founder of the company and its CEO and who will stay involved as chairman and chief product officer.

Founded in 2006, Buzzwire is based in Denver and backed by Matrix Partners, Sequel Venture Partners and Spark Capital.

Osberg’s interactive media background made him the ideal person to lead Buzzwire as it seeks to capitalize on the growth of mobile media, said Bijan Sabet, general partner of Spark and a Buzzwire board director.
