Eric Danetz Named Publisher of Fortune

Fortune is getting a publisher after all: Eric Danetz. The business title hasn’t had someone in that role since 2012. When Jed Hartman became group publisher of Time Inc.’s news and business brands that year, the publisher title was downgraded to vp of sales. 

Danetz was mostly recently chief revenue officer at Defy Media. Before that, he had sales roles at the Newsweek Daily Beast Co., CBS Interactive and CNET.

Danetz, who is reporting to Hartman, joins Fortune at a time of transition for the brand. It’s in the process of building a new website as it prepares to break off from its longstanding JV with CNNMoney.com in May, ahead of Time Inc.'s spinoff from CNNMoney parent Time Warner.

Time magazine, however, isn't appointing a publisher just yet. The top-ranking salesperson is Moritz Loew, who has the title of vp of ad sales.

In other comings and goings at Time Inc., Jennifer Staiman was named vp of integrated marketing for the company's lifestyle titles including Real Simple, Cooking Light and Southern Living, starting March 24. She came from Maxim, where she had the same title.

And long-timer Leslie Picard is leaving to become svp of sales at CNN, per sources. She most recently was president of Time Inc. Branded Solutions, which was created in 2011 when the company combined its print and digital sales and marketing teams. Previously, she was president of Time Inc. corporate sales and marketing.
