Chicago Trib's 'RedEye' Names New Editor

Tran Ha has been named editor of RedEye, the Chicago Tribune’s free tabloid.

Ha, 30, was hired as a RedEye copy editor in 2003 and went on to edit Chicago Tribune features. She returned to RedEye in 2007 to help launch a Saturday edition as its editor. (RedEye currently runs six days a week.)

Earlier this year Ha was appointed editor of TheMash, a new Chicago Tribune publication produced for and in collaboration with Chicago public high school students.

She succeeds Jane Hirt, who in August was named the Tribune’s managing editor.
