Bonnier Creates New Luxe, Lifestyle Division

Bonnier Corp. has created a new division to strengthen its ability to sell luxury advertising at its titles, some of which continue to report double-digit declines in ad pages.

The new luxury and lifestyle group combines faster-growing Saveur and Garden Design with Ski, Skiing and Snow as well as snow-sports film studio Warren Miller Entertainment.

Merri Lee Kingsly, group publisher of Saveur and Garden Design, was named vp, publishing of the new unit. Mike Federle, who had been group publisher of the ski magazines for a little over a year, left Bonnier as a result of the reorganization.

Under Kingsly, Saveur’s ad pages have grown despite the sharp downturn in magazine industry ad pages. Ski and Skiing, however, in 2009 shed 27 percent and 34 percent of their ad pages, respectively, per Publishers Information Bureau.

Kingsly said in a statement that the new group would allow for more integrated selling among the titles.

“All of these brands reach a highly desired audience,” she said. “I look forward to leveraging all of these great assets across the board to our marketing partners.”
