The Atlantic's website has a new addition. An education-focused vertical—which promises to cover topics such as education reform and technology's impact on learning—went live Monday evening.
Eleanor Barkhorn, a senior associate editor at The Atlantic who previously ran its Sexes online vertical, was tapped to manage the new section, which will feature articles as well as videos, interviews and slideshows, according to a release. The education vertical follows the launch of a China vertical, which was introduced in March.
Atlantic Digital editor Bob Cohn said in a statement that the topic of education "has never been more important than it is now, as we all seek ways to navigate in a world of global competition, technological upheaval and economic inequality. Eleanor’s experience in the classroom (she has taught high school English in Mississippi), combined with her track record as a creative and scrupulous editor here at TheAtlantic.com, makes her the ideal overseer of this new initiative."
