Peter Kreisky has quietly left Time Inc., leaving the company with one fewer trace of the short tenure of ex-CEO Jack Griffin. Kreisky, a publishing consultant, was one of Griffin's first hires at Time Inc., where he was serving as a senior advisor, and he'd been vocal in describing Griffin as an innovator. Randall Rothenberg, whom Griffin hired as Time Inc.'s chief digital officer, followed him out the door almost immediately. Griffin's last big external hire, John Q. Griffin (no relation), remains as the head of Time Inc.'s News Group.
Griffin was fired in February after five months on the job as CEO. Time Inc. parent Time Warner said he had a brusque management style that didn’t mesh with the corporate culture; Griffin supporters blamed his ouster on a resistance to change by a small but powerful coterie at Time Inc. A triumvirate composed of John Huey, Maurice Edelson, and Howard Averill has been running the company day to day since then. Griffin has reached a settlement with the company and has been laying low.
Reached for comment, Kreisky said his departure was "very amicable."
"I'm thrilled to be returning full-time to my strategy and advisory practice," he said.
