SAN FRANCISCO Independent Hoffman|Lewis defeated three other agencies to win creative chores on the $5 million Alltel Publishing account following a review, the agency said.
The St. Louis office of San Francisco-based Hoffman|Lewis bested Campbell-Ewald in Warren, Mich., Wyse Advertising in Cleveland and Kupper Parker Communications in St. Louis, according to the agency.
"Naturally, we're very happy, and we look forward to producing great work for Alltel," said Mark Schaeffer, president of the St. Louis office of Hoffman.
Alltel Publishing produces telephone directories similar to the Yellow Pages. It is based in Hudson. Ohio.
The agency's campaign for Alltel will involve television, print, out-of-home and direct marketing. It is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2006 and will run in 140 markets across the country.
H|L's St. Louis office has been operational for five years and also services McDonald's, Ashley Furniture Home Store and Ronoco Coffee, among other accounts.
In January, Alltel named Jerry Weaver president. Weaver, who was vice president of the company's wireless business solutions group and is a former vice president and general manager of Alltel's Raleigh, N.C., market, succeeds Ken Beach, who retired after 20 years with the directory publisher.
