Yahoo! clearly never followed the advice to “never bring sand to the beach.” It brought more than 30 tons of it to the beach here in Cannes. As a way to curry favor with its top advertisers, Yahoo! hired a team of sand sculptors to build a “brandcastle”—a 15-foot high structure festooned with the logos and product shots of seven brands. The front is a shot of the Yahoo! login page with its new oversized ad unit that seemingly shows a Chevy driving out of the screen.
