Cannes get a bad rap as being way behind the times. In truth, it's one of the more progressive awards shows. Its information kiosks are decidedly forward thinking, too. WPP Group shop Schematic constructed a huge 12-by-5-foot touchscreen wall using Microsoft Surface technology. Visitors can get directions around town through a 3-D map, see program details and even, improbably, exchange contact info with other attendees. Schematic is using the "Touchwall" as a demo for what brands can do with experiential technology that blurs the line between the digital and physical worlds.
