CHICAGO Mort Zieve, chairman of Simons Michelson Zieve Advertising, has died after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 78.

Zieve worked at the Troy, Mich., shop for 44 years, and had continued to come to the agency regularly even during his illness. After having worked as a producer and director at WXYZ TV in Detroit (where he produced the Soupy Sales Show, among others), Zieve joined the then-Simons Michelson Company in 1961.

In 1977, he and partner Jim Michelson bought the company and renamed it Simons Michelson Zieve Advertising.
