NEW YORK Publicis Groupe's ZenithOptimedia has named Lisa Spielman to the new position of svp, new business development for its U.S. operations.

She reports to Tim Jones, the agency's U.S. chief executive officer. Spielman is the first major hire Jones has made since he assumed the CEO role in August.

Spielman, 42, is a 20-year agency veteran who has specialized primarily in new business development activity.

Most recently she was director of business development at Omnicom Group's OMD USA, where over the last 18 months she is credited with helping the agency generate new business with estimated billings of more than $1 billion from clients such as Bank of America, Lowe's, eBay, Pier 1 and Hilton Hotels.

Prior to joining OMD two-and-half years ago, Spielman served at sister agency DDB in New York for five years, where she also oversaw business development. Earlier in her career, she worked at agencies such as McCann Erickson, Grey and Scali, McCabe, Sloves.

"Lisa is a dynamic and smart leader with a keen ability and proven track record to identify and convert business development opportunities," said Jones in a statement.

In addition to new business, Spielman will oversee all marketing communications efforts for the ZenithOptimedia brand in the U.S.
