DALLAS Zehnder Communications grabbed four Silver Microphone Awards for radio spots created for its Louisiana clients in 2005, said creative director Mike Rainey.
The Silver Microphone competition selects the best local and regional radio ads, audio programs and Web sites created in the United States.
Zehnder, an independent agency based in New Orleans, won the national best of category award for its "Ban the Bland" ad for Crystal Hot Sauce.
The shop received an award as a national finalist for its "Keep Louisiana beautiful" campaign that included spots such as "Rusty Can, Litterbuggin' " and "Comedian."
Zehnder also earned two national finalist awards for spots created for Step Together New Orleans ("Treat You Right") and Serranos Salsa Co. ("Cuban"), the agency said.
"We are very proud of our radio," Rainey said. "This medium is truly the most difficult in which to do great work."
The Silver Microphone Award competition was open to more than 40,000 advertising agencies, production studios and radio stations in the U.S. Entries in the 39 categories were judged for creativity, production quality, copywriting, talent and overall effectiveness.
