Hundreds of North Carolina creatives received mysteri ous rejection letters recently, each apparently penned by one of three men—Mike Hughes of The Martin Agency, Cliff Freeman of Cliff Freeman and Partners, and David Lubars of Fallon. Written on proper letterhead and signed convincingly, they caused much head-scratching.

“At this time, we have no requirements for a person with your qualifi cations,” reads the Lubars letter.
