DALLAS Yahoo! has appointed Cammie Dunaway chief marketing officer, the company said in a statement.
She fills the post that has been vacant since John Costello left to become executive vice president and CMO at The Home Depot in Atlanta last October following a one-year stint at Yahoo!
Dunaway will oversee the Internet services provider's global branding efforts and also helm the company's various marketing initiatives. Dunaway, who assumes her role later this month, will report to chief operating officer Dan Rosensweig.
Dunaway, 40, joins the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Yahoo! from Frito-Lay, where she was most recently vice president and general manager of kids and teen brands. She has worked on the company's Doritos, Cheetos, Lays, Ruffles and Rold Gold brands during her 13 years at the Plano, Texas, company.
Prior to joining Frito-Lay, Dunaway held account management positions at Interpublic Group's Howard, Merrell & Partners in Raleigh, N.C., and at sibling The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va.
Dunaway and other officials at Yahoo! could not immediately be reached.
Havas' Black Rocket Euro RSCG in San Francisco handles the Yahoo! ad account. The company spent $30 million on ads last year, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.
