Yahoo to Sponsor Clio

NEW YORK Yahoo has signed on to sponsor Clio's Innovative Media Awards, a three-year-old program that recognizes work that uses a medium in a unique or highly creative way to enhance an idea. The program considers unusual outdoor or ambient media and stunts or staged events designed to create buzz and enhance a brand.

Yahoo chief sales officer Wenda Harris Millard will present the Innovative Media awards at a ceremony in Miami Beach during Clio Festival week (the week of May 19). In addition to innovative media, Clio honors advertising in the areas of TV, print, outdoor, radio, integrated media, Internet, design and student work.

The Clio Awards are owned by VNU, parent company of Adweek.

The Santa Clara, Calif.-based Web portal is also sponsoring the One Club for Art & Copy's One Show Interactive, a competition that awards innovative interactive advertising [IQ Daily Briefing, Dec. 9, 2002]. In addition, Yahoo will support the Innovative Marketing category in the One Show, a category that will honor original marketing programs across multiple forms of media, including the Internet, or ones that are nontraditional in their use of traditional media.
