NEW YORK Yahoo said that it has acquired MyBlogLog, a networking hub for blog publishers and readers, for an undisclosed amount.
The Orlando, Fla.-based MyBlogLog has built a Web platform, which allows blog readers to create communities and connect with bloggers in a simple-to-use fashion.
A cross between MySpace and standard blogging tools, MyBlogLog lets users create profiles that incorporate photos and links to other blogs.
MyBlogLog is the latest social networking product acquired by Yahoo, joining the photo-sharing platform Flickr, along with the Web page bookmarking tool del.icio.us. Like those two properties, MyBlogLog has yet to adopt a robust advertising model, something that is unlikely to change immediately, based on comments made by Chad Dickerson, senior director, Yahoo Developer Network.
"We don't plan on making any immediate changes to the MyBlogLog Web site, distribution or branding," he said. "We want to encourage and not disrupt the continued growth of the MyBlogLog community and foster the innovation that has already made MyBlogLog an indispensable part of [users'] lives."
