NEW YORK WPP Group's Wunderman said it has appointed Alexei Orlov vice chairman, a new position, effective immediately. He had been president and COO of the shop's global Ford group.
Orlov will relocate to New York from London and add responsibilities for the agency's North American Lincoln Mercury business, as well as oversight for automotive operations in Latin America.
Orlov was already responsible for Wunderman's global efforts on the Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo and Mazda brands. (The agency now has Ford business in 36 offices around the world, up from 33 a year ago.)
"Wunderman's automotive practice is one of the world's largest and most respected in the business," said Wunderman chairman and CEO Daniel Morel, in a statement. "By consolidating the depth and breadth of our expertise globally, we will be better able to support the challenges Ford faces, especially as it increases its commitment to digital and online initiatives and looks for its marketing dollars to work harder."
Orlov said, "My main priority is to focus keenly on common thought, common sharing and being proactive regarding the complex issues affecting Ford."
