WPP Group Posts 16% Revenue Rise

BOSTON WPP Group today said its first-quarter revenue rose 16 percent to $2.12 billion compared with the same period a year ago.

On a like-for-like basis (excluding acquisitions and currency fluctuations) Q1 revenue was up 6 percent.

The London-based holding company last month completed its $1.7 billion purchase of Grey Global Group.

WPP said it posted double-digit revenue growth during the quarter across all regional operations. In North America, revenue rose 16 percent, while the increase in Europe was 15 percent and 22 percent for Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
