WPP Acquires Stake in Mediapro

NEW YORK WPP Group has acquired a 30 percent stake in The Mediapro Group, a media buying agency with offices in the U.S., Spain, France, Portugal, the Netherlands and Hungary.

Founded in 1994, Mediapro, which is headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, employs 1,000 people.

Mediapro’s clients include Sport Five, Sogecable, DTS Via Digital, Canal + France, Sport TV Portugal and major Spanish, Portuguese and French TV stations.

It is not yet decided how Mediapro will fit in with WPP’s other two media properties, MindShare and Mediaedge:cia, a WPP representative said.
