WPP Acquires EC Brand Shops

WPP Group PLC, the London-based advertising company, said Wednesday that it has acquired Icon Brand Navigation Group in Nuremberg, Germany, and a 77 percent stake in CB Associes, a branding agency with offices in Paris and Stuttgart. Terms were not disclosed.

Icon, founded in 1993, has 22 employees and serves clients such as Canon, Colgate-Palmolive, Kellogg's, Kodak, Lufthansa and Nestle. It will work with other WPP branding shops, including Enterprise IG in New York, on corporate and product positioning.

CB Associes, specializing in packaging and retail assignments, will work with Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide and WPP's branding division. CB, founded in 1982, has a staff of 185 and clients including Nestle, Cora and Unilever.
