LOS ANGELES The Seattle Storm said it has hired Sedgwick Rd. to handle its creative and media account.
The Storm, which is a franchise of the Women's National Basketball Association, selected the Seattle shop after a month-long review that included seven local agencies, said Karen Bryant, vice president of operations for the team. The incumbent, WongDoody in Seattle, participated in the review, she said.
"We were really impressed with [Sedgwick Rd.'s] leadership team and their enthusiasm for helping us build the Storm into a key player in our community," Bryant said.
Sedgwick Rd. is charged with building awareness for the team, which went to the WNBA playoffs last year, as well as increasing game attendance, said agency vice president of business development Stephanie Peirolo.
The shop's first ads for the Storm are expected to break in the spring.
Billings were not disclosed.
Sedgwick Rd. works with other local clients such as the Seattle International Film Festival, the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Repertory Theatre, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and the Washington State Department of Health.
