NEW YORK ? Wieden+Kennedy has been awarded a fourth quarter media-buying and planning assignment from JetBlue Airways, the agency said. Billings are estimated at $2 million for the quarter and will include local broadcast and print in major markets for the New York-based client. Out-of-home will be handled by MacDonald Media in New York. Previously, JetBlue's media was handled by Arnold. Creative duties are handled by The Ad-Store in New York.

The assignments came after Wieden and MacDonald presented collaborative media proposals to Jet Blue executives earlier this month.

In a statement, Jet Blue vp of marketing Amy Curtis-McIntyre said, "What began as a casual discussion about a potential collaboration next year quickly turned into a business partnership after the events of September 11. We were extremely impressed with Wieden+Kennedy's strategic thinking as well as their attitude and responsiveness to get JetBlue back in the marketplace."

Established in 2000, JetBlue is based at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport with daily destinations that include, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Denver, Salt Lake City and Seattle.
