Nothing is more hopeful than spring training. The regular season has yet to administer its disillusionments, so even the Seattle Mariners – dead last in the American League West in ’92 – can dream of championship pennants.
But this catchy ad for season tickets (via McCann-Erickson, Seattle) has an odd detail – either a sign of boundless optimism or the team’s first error of ’93. Close inspection of the logo on the umpire’s shirt reveals he’s a National League arbiter.
