The A&E programming chief says that while HBO’s criminally brilliant mob opus will require extensive editing in order to make it viable for ad-supported cable, “the goal is to make minimal changes—the less we monkey with it, the better.”

Of the three elements that will demand the most attention from the folks in the edit suite—language, violence and nudity—the latter has proven to be the most challenging, DeBitetto says.
