BOSTON WestWayne continues to tweak its senior management team, naming Julianne Coulton svp, media director.

She reports to Joe Caponigro, executive media director. Coulton will lead media planning on the Southeast Toyota Distributors account. Additionally, she is tasked with re-engineering the agency's digital offering and will contribute extensively to new business efforts.

"Julianne is a seasoned media executive, with deep roots in digital, who has developed and executed marketing and media strategies for a host of national and global brands," said agency CEO Richard Ward.

Coulton joins the Atlanta-based independent from online real estate company HouseValues, where she was marketing strategies manager. Prior to that, Coulton worked at digital agencies, including Avenue A/Razorfish and Digitas.

Bolstering WestWayne's digital capabilities has been a key goal for Ward, a former high-tech consultant who joined the agency in March.

Since his arrival, Ward has overhauled agency management in order to make WestWayne more competitive and generate some momentum.

Ward quickly hired former BellSouth executive Alan Blount as vp, direct marketing, a move intended to open new revenue streams. Other recent new hires include: John Rich, evp, interactive communications; Jane Matthews and Cici Kelly as vps, directors of business development; and svps David White and Lisa White, who respectively head planning and account services.

WestWayne was particularly hard hit by the late 2005 departure of SunTrust's $40 million account, which ranked among the shop's largest pieces of business.

Billings in 2005 were up 5 percent to roughly $500 million, while revenue rose 3 percent to slightly more than $50 million. WestWayne ranks among the largest independently owned U.S. agencies.
