BOSTON Interpublic Group’s Weber Shandwick has hired Miguel Silva to oversee the agency’s Latin America operations. He will be based in the agency’s Washington, D.C., office.

“Miguel’s knowledge of the region and broad range of experience with communications and public relations are great assets to our operations,” said Andy Polansky, president of Weber Shandwick.

Silva is a founder and partner of Gravitas, a Colombian strategic communications firm affiliated with Weber Shandwick. Silva will continue to run that shop while serving in his new post.
