Americans are comfortable buying more and more things online, but prescription drugs aren’t yet among them. A survey by the Pew Internet & American Life Project finds just 4 percent of adults saying they’ve ever purchased prescription drugs online. It’s not that consumers overlook the Internet as a resource in this area. Twenty-six percent of all respondents said they have looked online for information about such drugs. As the chart below suggests, consumers’ reluctance to take the next step and buy the stuff online is partly a matter of safety.
