Ward Gets Planet Tan's Media

DALLAS Planet Tan has hired The Ward Group to handle media planning and buying duties on behalf of the tanning chain, the agency said.

"Planet Tan has a very unique business culture and a strong, growing brand identity," said Rob Enright, president of the independent Dallas shop.

"The Ward Group understands the culture and identity of Planet Tan," said Tony Hartl, CEO and founder of Planet Tan, "That knowledge will cement our working relationship now and into the future."

Planet Tan, which opened in Dallas in May 1995, operates nine locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The chain plans an aggressive expansion with 50 or more tanning beds and daily hours of 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., the agency said.

The value of the account was not disclosed.

Shirley Ward, CEO of The Ward Group, founded the agency in 1985. Clients include the Texas State Lottery, Golden Corral, Schlotzsky's and Schepps Dairy.
