Tourism Defender Earns Expanded Task
BOSTON--Incumbent Paul Kaza Associates last week was named agency of record on the Vermont tourism account for a third time.
"We're very happy," said principal Paul Kaza. "We worked very hard."
The review presented more of a challenge to the South Burlington, Vt., agency than previous tourism contests because the scope of the account has changed to encompass seven state agencies, including economic development and parks and recreation. As a result, billings have quadrupled to $4 million.
The assignment also requires the winner to conduct Internet promotions and oversee call center and internal communications. To meet those requirements, Kaza and 11 other contenders pitched with technical experts. Working with Kaza as subcontractors are Protocol Communications, Cheshire, Conn., which will handle the call center, and C2, Colchester, Vt., for online communications.
The state agencies are working out the details of a new three-year contract, which will go into effect Jan. 1.
Meanwhile, Kaza on Dec. 27 will break ads for the state stemming from its former contract. The $1 million effort will run in Boston, New York and Philadelphia and will be tagged: "Vermont. Where the world celebrates winter."
Contenders included in-state shops Henner Group, KSV, Shark Communications and The Hayes Group, all Burlington; Imagination Co., Bethel; AD&M Marketing and Advertising, Waitsfield; and a team of shops from the Brattleboro area: Brown Cow Promotions, Communicators Group, MRB Media Services and Interactive Media Advertising Group.
