The Village Voice, the granddaddy of U.S. alternative newspapers, is launching an online radio station today.

The station, accessible at www.villagevoice.com, will present streamed music ranging from jazz, techno and deep house to hip-hop and beat-box, sometimes in live performances Webcast from club venues.

It will soon be possible to access Voice Radio through all of the New York-based Village Voice Media newspaper sites, which include the L.A. Weekly and the Seattle Weekly. The Village Voice, founded as a neighborhood newspaper, is more than 40 years old and has won three Pulitzer Prizes.
