VNU Inc. has reorganized its Business Publications USA unit into three new divisions. The new structure, announced by Michael Marchesano, president and CEO of VNU Business Media, includes the Marketing/Media and Retail division, which houses the Adweek Magazines group; the Travel, Performance, Real Estate/Design and Food Service division; and the Entertainment division. Marchesano and Howard Lander, COO of VNU Business Media, also created a new office of the president unit to develop the company's long-term strategies.
Mark Dacey, formerly president of Adweek Magazines, has been promoted to president of the Marketing/Media and Retail division and executive vp of VNU Business Publications. Mike Parker, formerly executive vp/group publisher of Adweek Magazines, has been named president of the Marketing/Media component of the new division. Parker will continue to report to Dacey.
"We plan to take better advantage of some of the markets included in the division," said Dacey. "The retail group brings a number of exciting titles into our division and will enhance our ability to serve readers and advertisers in new ways."
Rich O'Connor has been named president of the Travel, Performance, Real Estate/Design and Food Service group and an executive vp of VNU Business Publications.
Marchesano will serve as acting president of the Entertainment division, which includes the company's music, film, literary and consumer titles. Lander continues as president of the Music Group, and Bob Dowling continues as president of the Film Group.
"We believe this newly transformed organization can serve to re-invigorate us as we are required to operate in a very different business environment than that of the past few years," Marchesano said in a memo to VNU employees.
