NEW YORK Visa International is shopping a $40 million assignment that involves expanding Visa’s perception beyond credit cards in Europe and the Far East, sources said.

John Elkins, executive vice president of brand marketing for Visa in Foster City, Calif., began contacting agencies last week for a process that is in the credentials phase, sources said. The client is not using a consultant for this new assignment.

One source said the client has reached beyond its roster agencies.
