A Phoenix-based chain of used car dealerships is offering to help consumers prepare their tax return if they agree to use their refund for the down payment on a car.
The "Max Your Tax" campaign breaking this week for DriveTime (formerly Ugly Duckling) was created by Phoenix agency Gauger +Santy. The bi-linquial campaign is set to run through the first quarter of the year and is budgeted at about $2 million.
Two humorous TVs spots caution against using tax refund money for frivolous items, In one, a women buys a sexy nighgound only to be ignored by her husband who is more interested in watching sports on TV. The other looks like an ad for a weight reducing device but cuts to an overweight man who is using the product while sitting and eating junk food. When the man answers the phone he tells the caller he is "working out." Both ads have Spanish and English versions.
