A disappointing jobs report and negative outlooks for telecoms sent the Dow Jones Industrial Average sliding last week. Ad holding company stocks performed better than the market as a whole, perhaps buoyed by expectations of a positive first quarter, said Jason Helfstein, director of equity research at CIBC World Markets in New York. “The stocks have had a good fourth quarter, and a healthy first quarter looks good,” Helfstein said. “Right now, investors are waiting to see where some big reviews land, such as Time Warner and Masterfoods.”
