After weeks of pressure, stocks finally showed a rebound last week, although gains were cut on Friday on profit-taking in advance of earnings releases coming this week. The Dow Jones industrial average closed up 56.7 points for the week, or 0.55 percent, to finish at 10,461.34, while the Nasdaq gained 14.54 points, or 0.73 percent, to close at 1,999.35. Oil prices dropped through the week, which buoyed the market, as did word on Friday that Time Warner and Comcast had teamed up to buy Adelphia Communications for $18 billion.
