NEW YORK TVGuide.com is looking to help impassioned TV junkies endure the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike by packaging full-length episodes of current and upcoming TV series within a new channel, dubbed the Strike Survival Guide.
The new channel will showcase the best episodes found in TVGuide.com's Online Video Guide. Besides previously aired shows, included in the Strike Survival Guide will be CBS' returning cult hit Jericho, Fox's much-anticipated Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, along with ABC's Sex and the City-inspired Cashmere Mafia and the long-awaited fourth season of Lost, among others. In total, the Online Video Guide pulls content from 55 broadcast, cable and video-centric Web sites.
The idea is to present various options for TV fans, including original series or shows they've ignored in the past, said TV Guide executives. "With TVGuide.com's extensive Online Video Guide, you will be able to catch up on past episodes of series that are new to you while other scripted shows are off the air," said Kirsten Rasanen, TV Guide Online's director of video products.
Besides video, the new channel houses blog entries from TV Guide staffers aimed at helping viewers navigate their options during the strike, which is now entering its third month.
