NEW YORK — New seasons of hit series, as well as special events, drove a substantial increase in traffic to network and cable TV Web sites at the beginning of March.

According to Nielsen/NetRatings, HBO.com attracted 327,000 visitors the week ending March 3, an 81 percent jump from the week before. The bump in traffic coincided with the March 3 season premiere of “Six Feet Under.” Boosted by the recent debut of another season of “Survivor,” traffic to CBS.com
