Tricor Mortgage Lending is on the lookout for a new shop. Billings for the residential mortgage lender are $5-6 million, according to industry estimates.
Tricor, Huntington Beach, Calif., has contacted several Southern California shops, according to Janice Hopkins, senior vice president of marketing. Those vying for the business include Phillips-Ramsey, San Diego; Wise Guys, Pasadena; and Townsend & O'Leary, Irvine, said Hopkins. Other shops may be added, she said.
Previous advertising was handled by Houston Helm Fattal & Collins, Marina del Rey, Calif., which was not invited to the review, Hopkins said.
"We're going in a different direction," she said, "but it is not a reflection on Houston Helm."
The business includes creative and media duties, and some Internet and public relations responsibilities, said Hopkins. The selected agency should also be able to assist Tricor with strategic alliances with other companies. The client recently brought its print and collateral work in-house.
"[The shop] should have an understanding of the things we're trying to do on a PR side, as well as [the ability to] refocus our company," said Hopkins.
The client plans to select an agency by mid-September, according to Hopkins.
Houston Helm executives declined comment. The shop, which won the account after a review in December before its merger with Fattal & Collins, created TV, outdoor, radio, direct mail and print ads for the client. It also assisted with the company's entry into the Bay Area market.
