Tombras Tops Tennessee Addy Awards

ATLANTA The Tombras Group last week collected four best of shows among its total of 64 awards from three of the four Addy competitions held in Tennessee.

In Knoxville, Tombras won best of show for its Tennessee Department of Transportation's "Booze It" campaign aimed at reducing drunk driving. The Knoxville agency also earned 15 gold, 28 silver and 21 bronze Addys. At the event, agency president Charles Tombras Jr. was inducted into the Knoxville Advertising Federation's Hall of Fame.

At the Tri-Cities Ad show, Tombras picked up a best of show broadcast award for Bristol Motor Speedway's television commercial and a best of show print prize for the same client in a mixed-media campaign. The shop's additional gold and silver awards totaled 19.

In Nashville, Tombras added another best of show print award for a poster series it created for the Watkins College of Art, along with eight gold and three silver Addys. The Buntin Group and Lewis Communications led that city's competition. Buntin won 13 gold and 21 silver Addys, and Lewis captured 27 awards, including best of show broadcast for its Purity ice cream television commercials. Lewis copywriter Laura Powers collected her second Copywriter of the Year Award.
