NEW YORK Yahoo! is promoting its shopping portal this Friday and Saturday by bringing a snow globe to Times Square that will house Santa and his elves, who will show consumers how to search for and compare products on the property.
The 18-foot-tall snow globe, created by Absolute Hollywood, will contain Wi-Fi Internet kiosks. The installation boasts a 16-foot diameter, according to a Yahoo! representative.
Visitors will also be able to take digital photos with Santa, which will be uploaded to a Web site, where they can view and send them to friends and family.
The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Web portal is also launching a "Wish and Win" sweepstakes (shopping.yahoo.com/holiday), offering consumers a chance to win one of five personality-themed wish lists or $10,000 in cash. The promotion highlights the new "Save and Share" feature on Yahoo! Shopping, which lets users save products from merchants across the Web at one location.
