Timberland Co. has signed on to sponsor the U.S. broadcast of the Discovery Channel’s Adventure Race: New Zealand.

Plans call for promotions in Timberland and other retail stores and a sweepstakes. The arrangement also makes Timberland the exclusive footwear and outerwear outfitter for volunteers who participate in the event.

During the four-hour broadcast April 22-23, Timberland will air a 30-second spot from The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va. A second spot promotes the sweepstakes.

The marketing partnership continues in August with Timberland’s support of Discovery Channel’s Valley of the T-Rex, which recounts the expedition of paleontologists in Montana.
