Families On Line is promoting itself as the nation’s first and only Internet service provider with “an absolute
commitment to moral family values.”
FOL chairman Mark
Thurman insists about 40 percent of the U.S. population shuns online services because of
concerns about offensive Internet content.
“That would lead an entrepreneur to believe he could provide a better solution,” said Thurman, a retired banker living in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. “We’re not sponsoring a theology or doctrine. This is something that needs to be done.”
Families On Line employs a state-of-the-art electronic filtering system to block access to Web sites with
offensive content.
PL&P Advertising, also in Fort Lauderdale, will be spreading the good word in a $1 million print campaign that will break in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas and eight other cities.
Families On Line is
pinning its hopes on “affinity marketing.”
