NEW YORK The Kaplan Thaler Group said it has hired Marisa Thalberg as group account director on Procter & Gamble's Clairol Herbal Essences brands, effective immediately.
Thalberg, 36, was most recently svp of marketing for Sure Fit in New York.
She replaces Tom Shaffer, who will work on other accounts at the Publicis Groupe shop in New York. She will report to agency CMO Robin Koval.
For Thalberg, the move is a return to the agency side. Her ad career began at Saatchi & Saatchi, working on Johnson & Johnson, followed by a stop at JWT. She has also worked at Calvin Klein Cosmetics (now a division of Unilever).
In a statement, Koval said, "Marisa understands the beauty category inside and out. Her passion for communicating and connecting with women is evident in everything she does. We are thrilled to have Marisa on board."
In addition, Thalberg is the founder and president of Executive Moms, an organization dedicated to helping women who are both mothers and professionals thrive in all aspects of their home and work lives.
P&G spent $80 million in U.S. media on Clairol Herbal Essences last year, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
The agency's other clients include, Revlon, Aflac, Continental Airlines, Foxwoods, U.S. Bank, Panasonic, Pfizer and Trojan.
